More out of order crap...
My colleagues wanted to go on a refreshment trip. We had settled on going to Silent Valley National Forest, Kerala; It was scheduled to be a jolly good time. We'd have access to food, water and it was sure to be relatively scenic and very laid back. Off we go...
"Oooh, pretty." The is a shot before heading in the Western Ghats. I felt it was going to be a good trip.
The idea was to climb the mountain....
Interesting right?!
We have started our journey in a forest jeap in a muddy/watery narrow road.
That is when it happened…the leaches. I of course didn’t know this until I took off my shoes after taking this snap. I had 2 small ones on my shoes. My friends freaked when i shouted LEACHES.... Jeap Driver told me that there could be leaches here, and I’ve seen them first time.
We have stepped up in this 100 feet watching tower and snapped a few pictures of our site. Suddenly the weather too changed and it started to drizzle down and we began our journey despite a few warnings from the forest guard.
Kunthipuzha River... I really liked this picture.
The last part of the trek we went through muddy/watery not so-scenic narrow road. The biggest problem was the leaches. we had no idea where we are leading to or when we could reach our destination. We decided not to stop even for a second, no matter how many leaches climbed up your legs.
We guys tried our damnedest
to ensure that the leaches do not suck the blood.... Each time someone was attacked by one of them we had to stop and apply salt.
Here is the crew just came out of the core forest area.... .
The trip ended well. Something to add last minute. On our way in we encountered few gentlemen without wearing shoes. They thought the trip would be funny........

We made a sigh of relief and started examining every inch of our body for possible invasions of bloody leaches. I remember Srini picking out 3 from his legs. Two of them were bulging and full of blood.

Nice trip. Thanks for sharing your trip experience. About 65 km from Palakkad, in north-eastern Palakkad District, Silent Valley National Park is one of the least disturbed patches of tropical rainforest in the Western Ghats. The isolation of the plateau, cut off on all sides by steep ridges and escarpments, allowed the valley to endure as an ecological oasis, preserving fauna and flora over some 50 million years.
